As part of the Regional Course on Mangrove Ecosystem Management, Dr. Madiara Ngom FAYE explains in this short video the zoning of mangroves. According to him, the interest of this exercise is to facilitate the study of living species, allow better monitoring of population dynamics and their cohesion.
Djibril LY, Head of the Environmental Monitoring System Service of the Banc d’Arguin National Park of Mauritania, is delighted to take part in this training. He confides to us that the pedagogical outing on the zoning allowed them to master the different stages of the method and understand its importance in mangrove ecosystems management.
Note that this course is part of the “Mangrove Capital Africa” program of Wetlands International funded by DOB Ecology. The six modules that comprise it have been developed in collaboration with various partners such as the Master GIDEL of Cheikh Anta Diop University, with the support of a multidisciplinary team of professional wetlands conservation and national parks.
The objective of this training is to focus on the management of mangrove ecosystems in order to provide participants with the tools and knowledge needed to address issues of relevance from an ecosystem and community perspective. By linking theory to practice, this course will help understanding and provide the skills needed to face the major challenges and struggles currently facing these fragile ecosystems. The course focuses on an interactive learning process by providing methods for applying and sharing knowledge.
