Comments
If you leave comments on a blog posted on wetlands.org, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Other visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Email newsletter
We use a third party platform, MailChimp, to manage our email distribution lists. If you choose to register for our email newsletters by clicking “Subscribe” on our Website, you will be presented with a secured form, hosted by MailChimp, in which you will be asked to provide your Personal Information, which includes your email address, and you will be asked to select your mailing preferences. Any information you submit through this secured form is provided directly by you to Mailchimp and is also subject to MailChimp’s privacy policy. We have a data processing agreement in place with Mailchimp, as we are the controller of such Personal Information provided by you to Mailchimp and as we have the right to access such Personal Information and process the Personal Information.
We may on occasion send special notices to all or some newsletter subscribers, such as notifications of publications or events.

We use Google Analytics to collect analytics data of visitors to wetlands.org. This is set to anonymise the IP address of visitors, so we cannot identify you from this data.

Donations are via PayPal or via Mollie iDeal payments, and are affected by the privacy statements of Paypal and Mollie respectively. If you choose to make a donation by clicking “Donate”, you will be transferred to PayPal or Mollie’s secured form.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment on a blog posted on wetlands.org, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
We hold your information for only as long as necessary for the purpose needed. If you apply to work or volunteer at Wetlands International, we will use the information you supply to us to process your application and to monitor recruitment statistics. If you are unsuccessful in your application we will keep your personal information for 12 months. If you request us to hold onto your information for future opportunities we will keep your information for this purpose only for 12 months.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments on a blog, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
